Boozed? is a Today View widget for capturing, calculating & displaying your current estimated blood alcohol content (eBAC) reading. It lets you enter a drink in under three taps without needing to unlock your phone. It means not needing to remember when & how many drinks you have had.

Boozed? promotes safe drinking through making you aware of the way that alcohol affects you.

Whenever you display the Today View, it will re-calculate your current BAC at the latest time.

It supports popular US, UK, Australia, Canada & New Zealand drinks and measures.

The greatest strength of using a widget is that it is remarkably easy to add a drink as you go & capture the exact time. Thus helping solve one of the greatest inaccuracies of BAC calculations, the problem of recall.

It has optional Health App support to write your daily peak estimated blood alcohol (eBAC) concentration into the Health App Blood Alcohol Content data store. This is useful if you want to track your drinking habits on the dashboard.

It is important to be aware that the readings are still estimates, and though more accurate than traditional recall calculations, can vary for all sorts of reasons, medical or otherwise and as such should not form the decision to make responsible decisions such as driving or using a chainsaw. Specifically, the app cannot actually provide accurate blood alcohol data, and as such should be regarded as being for entertainment purposes only.

Pros and cons of Boozed? Drink Tracker. app for iPhone and iPad

Boozed? Drink Tracker. app good for

The boozed? Widget is well thought out ad say to use. I like that I don’t have to unlock the phone to use it, and that it provided BAL calculations for three hours from the current time. The limitation that I find frustrating is that when the estimate BAL reaches the legal limit of .08 (Canada), the widget results is a red “Bad”, which is not as useful as the BAL number. I would prefer that the number be used for all BAL estimates, but that those exceeding the legal limit be bolded in red to emphasize the warning. By showing BAL numbers, there is greater opportunity for learning to happen as people may become aware that they may approach dangerous .3, .4 or higher BAL’s. Great idea, looking forward to a future update!
As someone who has trouble pacing themself with drinking this widget is honestly perfection in what I was looking for. This widget is incredibly easy to use and makes it very easy to pace yourself and know where you will be after every drink. It really keeps you conscious about just how drunk you actually and and where your BAC will be after that next drink. A lot of people dont realize that a drink doesnt really hit you for about a half hour and this widget shows it. Everyone should use this widget when they are drinking. Being able to define and enter drinks straight from the lock screen is super convenient. Its pretty accurate too since you can punch in your weight and height and even specify a level you dont want you get drunk beyond.

Some bad moments

First of all, the ease of use of this app cannot be overstated. The ability to (a) set-up (in the apps pre-setup) "faves", (i.e, label it "beer" and define it as a 12 oz. (or any other measurement system) and add what % of alcohol it contains), and then (b) add a "fave" drink via three taps in the Notification Center (thus not needing to unlock your iPhone) is ridiculously convenient! And it even shows you when your BAC will decrease over time, and warns you of how youre going to feel (based on an estimate using your height and weight), is ridiculously convenient! And its set up contains multiple warnings not to ever even have one drink if youre going to drive. Great job developers!
